Severus Snape is tired of the lies. ([info]fortiscadere) wrote,

16 August 1980;
[Warded Private]

For Merlin's sake are we handing out promotions for any heroic deed now?

I am not the only Death Eater who did not respond and my lack of response was because I was working on a task for the Dark Lord rather than no excuse at all (no surprise at all). If Gaius particularly wanted people to pay attention, perhaps he should have charmed his entry to ring and be annoying. It is not a part of my body that is attached to me as is say, the Dark Mark.

I am so bloody sick of these damn portkeys. I've turned practically every tiny insignificant thing within sight into one and I am fairly confident I do not have enough. I have no idea who 'the important' people are other than probably not halfblood Agatha or I.

Well fuck you, Nott. I already have a portkey and so does my wife and we did months before you happened to think of it (or actually didn't happen to think of it since it seems you got that idea from a vigilante didn't you then?)

Returning to the actual issue at hand and ignoring my supreme dislike of my boss I have absolutely no idea how many to make and there is a large difference between Death Eaters, their wives and families, or First and second tier Death Eaters, their wives and families, or every Pureblood in the entirety of Britain and those fullbloods and halfbloods who have happened to pledge their lives to the cause. Is some guidance or direction too bloody much to ask for? "Each person who is important", is actually not direction or guidance, Minister Nott.

I miss Mr Lestrange - he didn't say much, but he was more succinct and clear than the entire rest of the Inner Circle together.

[Warded to Inner Circle]
The portkey project is progressing on schedule. However, I am running out of small, easily concealed objects with which to use to create portkeys. If anyone has anything they would be willing to owl me it would be appreciated; If not then small rocks from my garden will work, but obviously lack elegance.

[Warded to Moody]
I'm guessing the death toil is less than reported.

Abe? Did you get Abe?

[Warded to Agatha]
I'm going to take lunch in the workshed; could you bring it out there?

Yes, of course. Would a please have killed you? Is there anything else you'd like?

A hundred small insignificant objects we have absolutely no use for?

Thank you, Agatha.

I'm sure I can find some, including some of those wedding favours which are very pretty and collect dust and are therefore utterly useless to us.

Don't splotch at me

Merlin yes, there's too much clutter in the bedroom as it is.

I'll gather some of them up then.

And most of that 'clutter' in the bedroom would be piles of books that ought to be in the bookshelves, not on the floor.

Like every book in your study is on a bookshelf?

If I put the books on bookshelves I can't get them when I need reading before bed and they're all projects I'm in the middle of. They're actually important, unlike those knick knacks.

No, they're not but they're also in my study and not cluttering up other rooms.

Do you really need all of those books though? You can only read one at a time.

I'm sorry my quest for knowledge is inconveniently located.

I'm not reading the entire book, Agatha. Surely you're familiar with the concept of cross referencing.

Of course I'm familiar with the concept of cross-referencing. That's what I do in my study to I can keep the many books I'm cross-referencing out of your way. It's called common courtesy.

Because you I didn't

The Inner Circle wants portkeys for the entirety of 'important' society, whatever the hell that means, and apparently I'm the person that gets stuck with the task and I'm tired and

but the Order got Abe back.

I don't either I I'm If you I'm sorry.

& I can try to keep the books picked up better.

That'd be nice, thanks.

I hate Gaius fucking Travers. How does he get promoted for not anticipating a second attack on a centre that's already proven a target, and then not bothering to ward for assistance in such a way that makes it obvious to someone who is not sitting with their journal open on their lap? I am working on an assignment given to me by Mr Nott, not sitting here at home playing board games. Had the ward been obvious, I would have gone to assist.

Mr Lestrange would have never promoted for that sloppy a defence. The Inner Circle is getting sloppy.

It's bloody unfair.

Well, look at it this way - if the idiots keep getting promoted by other idiots then that can only be good for the Order and those Albion people. Because idiots don't make good decisions. I rather doubt Mr Lestrange would have ever approved of that hideous display and that's turned people against them already. Let them keep making stupid decisions

In fact, you should do your best to subtly encourage them to keep making stupid decisions, Severus! It's the best way for them to lose the war.

It is still humiliating to be Inner Circle and yet lower ranked than a member of the Outer Circle, particularly Gaius Travers. I'm better than that

No one died that I'm aware of. Certainly not 25.

We got him. We're going to keep them all under surveillance for a while. It's hard to know who we can trust at the moment.

Remus Lupin is dead. He was the spy. We need to take every possible precaution there is before we start acting like things are back to normal, whatever normal is nowadays.

I assumed as much.

Abe is trustworthy Nobody outed me despite opportunity to be questioned and to do so. Considering Potter and Abe were the two people in there that knew about me, it seems likely they're more trustworthy than not, but it's better safe than sorry Can I see Abe?

Lupin? Lupin is the Considering he tried to kill me sixth year, I can't say I'm actually that surprised. I tried to warn Lily about him Well, dead he won't tell them anything else.

I'm not certain normal exists.

I'm not taking anything for granted anymore. Everyone's loyalty is suspect as far as I'm concerned. It will be safer that way. Constant vigilance and all. Of course, we've still got to operate as though nothing is wrong and there's no possibility that we have any other spies among us. I'm hoping to god we don't.

I know everyone wants the war to end but I'm not sure what in the bloody hell they think is waiting for them on the other side. Certainly not normalcy.

Yeah. It's good.

I didn't talk to everyone in the rehabilitation centre obviously. But I spoke with Potter some - while he gave me quite a bit of information - it was about things he knew I wasn't likely to act on nor did I ever get any sense from him that he wanted his wife and son harmed. They twisted around his beliefs on purism, yeah, but I don't think he wanted anyone dead.

I didn't talk to Abe, but I know that I trust him absolutely. He loved his brother a lot, and he's been like a father to me. There aren't many people I'd trust with everything I hold dear, but Abe's one of them. You've got to do what you've got to do, of course, that's just my opinion. And I couldn't speak to the other two. My general impression, however, has been that Pettigrew's weak.

They got information about the Longbottom's location from somewhere - there's a lot of information they got from somewhere - but that could have been from Lupin really. There's no telling how much he said.

Yeah, normalcy is something maybe our kids will get. We won't.

There's no telling who gave up what information. It's possible all of them talked. Everyone does under the right circumstances, voluntarily or not. I doubt any of them are killers, but then again, I didn't think Remus was and he damn near cost me my life, so I'll be wary regardless. I've always trusted Abe. I'm sure that once he's in his right mind, we'll be back to business as usual. It's just hard to tell what it will take.

Is there any way you can get any information on what happened to them while they were there? Maybe they keep records in the place or you could talk to some Mediwitches who were present. If we knew what we were up against, it would certainly help in trying to undo it.

Glad I don't plan on bringing children into this godforsaken mess.

Yeah, some people take more than others though. Lupin almost killed me sixth year during the full moon, I've given him a wide berth since that point.

Do you know if Abe has a journal yet?

The Inner Circle has me making portkeys for the whole of Wizarding Society at the moment, but I could try to look into it tomorrow, maybe. It sounds as if there will need to be some rebuilding done, so I could possibly ask some questions under the guise of that.

I meant figuratively ours not literally ours. I've no plan for it either.

This was no full moon tomfoolery. That's a bit more understandable.

We don't have wands or journals for them, but they'll have them soon enough. We need to get ones with wards that work rather than that crap they gave them there.

That would be most helpful.

Don't know why anyone else would want to bring them into this either, but hopefully for their sakes -- normalcy.

Not when you're the one on the other end of it.

Right, the ones they've got are utterly useless. I just want to make certain he's all right If I can do anything else that might help them, let me know and I'll check back with you as soon as I can.

Regardless of how evil a person is when not in werewolf form, we only just seem to be perfecting the ability to make him or her aware of actions between transformations.

If you could send over any of the potions you've made thus far, I'm sure we will find a proper use for them. I will let you know if there is anything else.

Apparently they have taken to expecting the lot of us to be mind readers and know precisely at any moment whether or not our journals are on us and whether or not those sounding the alarm do so in a way that is going to attract the notice of someone not immediately reading their journals that there is an attack of some variety.

I'll send the potions right away.
